CCA (COPPER CHROME ARSENATE) TREATED TIMBER
Our Products are treated with CCA(Copper chrome arsenate) chemical.

CCA is known by many trade names and is the world’s most widely-used wood preservative. It is manufactured to national and international standards depending on the country of intended use.
Copper chrome arsenate (CCA) treated timber is wood that has been treated with preservative containing copper, chromium and arsenic. CCA treatment prolongs the life of the wood. This is why, in the past, CCA treated timber was commonly used in decking, playground equipment, fences, retaining walls, jetties and vineyards.
The growth of the Wood Preservation Industry has been one of the most important technical developments within the forest industry. The wide acceptance of preservation as an integral part of wood processing and utilisation has been a significant contribution to the use of what is the only structural raw material having a renewable source of supply.
Preservation Process

The CCA process was pioneered in 1933 and is used worldwide. Copper and arsenic in the preservative protect the wood from insect and fungal attack. Chromium (chrome) ‘locks’ the copper and arsenic into the timber and reduces the risk of the chemicals leaching out. The CCA process gives the treated wood a green tint.
Timber treatment prevents deterioration by insect or fungal attack and preserves the quality of the timber
